A look at these last days –
Convergence: confluence, or junction; a point in space or time where related or seemingly unrelated structures or events merge. The point where this merger rises to a crescendo.
Convergence is similar to baking. Seemingly unrelated ingredients are blended together in predetermined amounts. Then they are subjected to an increase in temperature until a transformation takes place. In the case of baking, a miraculous gift of God’s Divine wisdom converts the converged elements into a delightful confection. Unfortunately, this End Time convergence does not result in a delight by His grace but in Judgment upon an ungodly Earth from a Just God.
In these “Last Days” specified elements are converging at a particular confluence in time and space. This convergence of “sign” is what Jesus advises His followers to be anticipating as the time grows near. He warned, “Watch therefore: for you know not what hour your Lord does come” Mt 24:42.
Our Lord teaches in Luke that when we see trees putting forth their leaves, we know summer is near. He continues, “So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, [even] at the doors” Mr 13:29. It should be obvious to us from each day’s worsening news that this Convergence in Bible chronology is exactly the point in time at which we are standing. Hold onto your seats, as we have arrived.
Can the snatching away of the Church (rapture) be far off? Pastor Greg Durel makes a good case for the soon return of Jesus for His Body, the Church in his sermon on “The Last Generation” Jonathan Cahn postulates the imminent rapture in his book and DVD, “The Oracle.” Regardless, please don’t miss your opportunity. Hear His voice and open the door to your heart, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me” Re 3:20.
Jesus lists many of the events that will converge in the last hours of the last days:
- Many will come saying that they are Christ Mt. 21:5
- Wars and rumors of wars Mt.21:6
- Nation (ethnos-ethnic groups) will rise against nation – that is, racial tensions around the world Mt.24:7
- Kingdom (national entities) against kingdom (national entities) Mt 24:7
- Famines Mt 24:7
- Pestilence Mt 24:7
- Earthquakes Mt 24:7
- Persecution of the Saints of God because they hold godly values – hated for God’s namesake Mt 24:9
- Departure from the faith, a falling away, apostasy Mt 24:10
- Betrayal and hatred – those who fall away will turn on their former brethren Mt 24:10
- False prophets – delivering palatable, false gospels, deceiving those who do not read the Scriptures for themselves Mt 24:11
- Lawlessness (especially in government) Mt 24:12
- Cold heartedness – lack of love for fellow men Mt 24:12
CONVERGENCE! Each of these thirteen warnings, and others, are extent in the world today. They are especially apparent in the United States of America with its riots, the takeover of neighborhoods by gangs, and a corrupted elections. Worldwide we see increasing natural disasters devastating the Earth: raging fires; uncommon local and regional flooding; unprecedented storms; earthquakes increasing in occurrence and intensity; increased volcanic activity; radical hatred (Critical theory); immorality and debauchery as hasn’t been seen on Earth since the destruction of Sodom or Gomorrah; &c. On top of all this is lawlessness in the streets, political corruption and lawless governments.
If all the above isn’t frightening enough to bring you to the safety of Christ, consider that the Bible warns, “. . . realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, 4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these” 2Ti 3:1-5.
Regarding Matthew 24:10 (the falling away of the Church into apostasy, and the general condition of godliness), Roman’s adds, “And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; [they are] gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; 32 and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them” Ro 1:28-32.
That is the condition of the world today. Thankfully, we are not of this world
“For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; 21 who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself” Php 3:20-21.
We, who trust in Christ, have a “Blessed Hope,” our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Himself.
“instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, 14 who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds” Tit 2:12-14 (NASB).
If you haven’t yet come to Christ, He says, “. . . now [is] the accepted time; behold, now [is] the day of salvation” 2Co 6:2. And He promises, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any [man] pluck them out of my hand” Joh 10:27-28 (KJV).
MARANATHA! Come, Lord Jesus.
