This blog is intended to be informational, and not a forum for debate. As such, comments are seldom posted. However, the following comment expresses the heart of many Christians living in “today’s” United States of America.
“What a great explanation of convergence…like baking a cake. Of course, I related to this analogy! I know it won’t be long before our Lord returns, but it breaks my heart that the country I love is being taken over by ungodly communists! I keep thinking, surely God will give us one more chance because of all the hundreds of thousands of Christians that are praying for Him to intervene. Surely we shouldn’t give up praying for Him to save this country. Is God unhappy with us when we continue to pray for the salvation of our country and its leaders even though we see His return is near? What are we, as Christians, to do? Just give up and sit back and wait for His return? I guess all we are expected to do now is pray for the salvation of our family and friends and not bother with the salvation of our country. I’m excited to know the Lord is at the door, but He gave me this big, patriotic heart that is having a hard time letting go of this country that so many fought and died for.”
Where is God in all the ensuing evil in our country and the world? Why is all this tragedy happening? Has God abandoned us? How should we be praying? Does God still answer prayer?
We live in a fallen world and our first parents were renegades. They trusted the lies of a serpent (Satan) more than the fidelity of their creator (Gen 3:5) and did not appreciating all that God had given them.
They were privileged to have personal conversations and daily walks through the garden, side by side with the LORD. Most likely they were clothed with the same radiance Moses had when he was on the mountain in the presence of the Divine (Exodus 34:29). It wasn’t till they lost the glow of His glory that they discovered their spiritual and physical nakedness. Turning on God, Adam and Eve plunged humanity into darkness. Instead of living in Paradise with all our needs met and enjoying daily, in person fellowship with the living God, life became a chore, “By the sweat of your face You will eat bread, Till you return to the ground, Because from it you were taken; For you are dust, And to dust you shall return.” Ge 3:19 (NASB). By Genesis 6 God saw that “every immigration of man’s heart was evil” (Gen 6:5). But our longsuffering God did not give up on us. By trusting in the finished work of Jesus Christ we, “. . . being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life” (Titus 3:3-7).
“I keep thinking, surely God will give us one more chance because of all the hundreds of thousands of Christians that are praying for Him to intervene.”
Because David committed a sin that caused Blasphemy to come upon the LORD, God spared his life but struck his infant son with a disease unto death. David prayed and fasted for his son to recover up until the child died. Then David got up, washed, changed clothes, went into the LORD’s house, and worshiped (2Samuel 14-20). It is the same for each of us. We pray for America, but it is deservingly falling. It is time for us to refresh ourselves and continue praying, pleading for the soon return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to set the world straight. Scripture says that at the end, Israel must stand on her own. Israel will have no one to lean on other than God Himself. No nation will come to her rescue, although some will grumble about the invasion, “. . . Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish will ask, ‘Do you really think the armies you have gathered can rob them of silver and gold? Do you think you can drive away their livestock and seize their goods and carry off plunder?” Ezekiel 38:13 (NLT) – the NLT sounds like these nations are saying, “Do you think you are going to get away with this?”. There will be some complaints, but no one will come to Israel’s rescue. That includes the United States. Israel must stand alone. However, God promised long ago, “And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: 27 For this [is] my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins” Ro 11:26-27 (KJV). Reassuringly, our God is a covenant-keeping God. He is always true to His promises.
God has given America many chances to come back to Him. And YES, God did give America one more opportunity to come out of apostasy. He allowed Donald Trump to be elected 45th president against insurmountable odds. Many in the Church would have rathered Hillary as president than vote for Donald Trump. Irrationally, they reasoned that his morality forbids them from voting for such a scoundrel. And yet, they would support Clinton? That “scoundrel” was a staunch conservative and kept every promise he made as a candidate.
But alas, Satan being hard at work pronounced Biden the 46th president of the United States. Biden quickly resumed Obama’s agenda to plunge this country into darkness at warp speed. The accelerated plunge goes back at least as far as the September 11, 1991 “New World Order” speech of George Bush Sr. (coincidental that it was a 9/11?). The left has been working at the demise of America for a long time. Just as they were reaching their goal, along comes Donald Trump upsetting the apple cart.
” I guess all we are expected to do now is pray for the salvation of our family and friends and not bother with the salvation of our country.”
It is time for us to pray “diligently.” We can be praying for the Taliban to be blinded to the Bibles Christians have in Afghanistan. We can pray for the Christians caught in that country to find a means of escape; for the Taliban to be confused and turn on each other and for them to come to Christ. We can be praying for our nation and our communities. We can be praying for our politicians to turn to the Lord and for our Churches to “hold fast” and stand for truth, not political correctness. We can pray for the salvation of all those who have not yet come to Christ. We can be praying for the “Peace of Jerusalem” and the salvation of Israel. And, of course, for our families and friends. Mostly, we need to pray for the soon return of Jesus Christ. Always remember,“. . . The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” Jas 5:16 (KJV).
“I’m excited to know the Lord is at the door, but He gave me this big, patriotic heart that is having a hard time letting go of this country that so many fought and died for.”
The Rapture of the Church is upon us. If you don’t believe in the pre-tribulation rapture, you haven’t read the Bible from cover to cover. You aren’t paying attention to the promises God made to Israel, not to the Church. He didn’t hide from Israel their fate and their redemption. From the very beginning God laid out their course, their “Blessings” and their “Cursings” (Blessings & Cursings); (Dispora and Restoration); (Jacob’s Trouble & Restoration). The Church is Christ’s Body. Israel is His people. Time is short. We need to be serious about doing what we can to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and save souls. Jesus is both God and man. He suffered and died a substitutionary death on the cross in our place, for our sins. He rose on the third day according to Scripture and ascended on high where He sits at the right hand of Father Almighty: See (Gospel of Jesus Christ).
My reading of Scripture reveals to me that the “Restrainer” of 2 Thessalonians, at least since WWII, has been the United States – Before you get all flustered, YES, the power of restraint is through and by the Holy Spirit). God says that the “man of sin” (antichrist) cannot be revealed till the restrainer is taken out of the way, “And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed 2Th 2:6 (NASB) ( 2Thes 2:1-7) Up until Obama, the military forces of the United States have been led by conservatives, predominantly Christian. Reading the history of military battles you will find that our Generals and Admirals lead their troops in prayer before battles and major conflicts. You will discover that against overwhelming odds, prayer led American troops to victory time and time again. It is overwhelmingly apparent that the Holy Spirit has been the power behind the success of the United States. And if you are in doubt about God’s hand in the founding and establishment of the United States of America, read , (The Light and The Glory), God’s plan for America, by Peter Marshall and David Manuel. It is an exciting, God-filled journey through the discovery, founding, and establishment of America from 1492 through 1793. Truly, God has blessed America from sea to shining sea! He has used the United States to tap down evil throughout the world – from the Korean peninsula to the Philippines, Japan, Guam, Germany (in each the USA maintains a significant military force). America has troops are in Africa, South America, and eastern Europe. The 44th president had other plans for America. Among Obama’s first actions in office was defunding the military and replacing conservative, God-fearing Generals, and other military leaders with liberals. Now we have a military that Russia is portraying around the world as an army of “sissies.” In this country, when was the last time you say an ad saying, “The Few. The proud. The Marines.” ? Satan has done his job well. Many Americans have fallen for it.
There is good news. In fact, it is GREAT news.
“For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ” Php 3:20 (NASB).
“For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins” Col 1:13-14 (NASB).
We have lots of reasons to have broken hearts for America. The older generation say this country’s brightest days. We have greater reasons (Jesus Christ) to be thankful for our new citizenship, the Kingdom of God!
Among many other things, God tells us, “And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. Lu 17:26 (KJV)
Exploring Scripture~because it matters-it really does!
And all God’s children say, Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus. Come.
