These are exciting and yet very trying times we are living through. Each day’s news opens our eyes wider to the fact we are in the end-times. Nations are enraged. The entire world is in turmoil. It is obvious to anyone who is cognizant, that the world is racing at terminal velocity to the precipice. Signs of a bitter explosion between governments are obvious. People from the east, trying to escape injustice are flooding into Europe and bring the injustice with them. Much of European culture is now unrecognizable. Other people from all over the earth are breeching America’s borders. Many come for a better life while others plan her destruction. Calls for the destruction of both America and Israel are ringing out around the world. Nuclear weapons proliferation in the hands of unstable governments and tyrants is now uncontrollable – a catastrophe is inevitable. Signs of the end are even being displayed in the earth, sun, moon, and stars – Locus plagues – Sun spots – Asteroids – etc., all undeniably omens of the impending end of this system. Man has overstepped his boundaries – God is watching – There are only seconds left on the clock as midnight approaches. Praise God! A new day will dawn.
Come to Christ while there is still time to be with Him in that new day.
Signs of the Times:
Matthew 24:11- 12 (KJV) “And many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many.12And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”
Lets refresh ourselves with the context:
“…Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all [these things] must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these [are] the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then (and only then) shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. 10 And then (because of the afflicting) shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another – (our passage) 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound (in the future-at the End Time), the love of many shall wax cold” Matthew 24:4-11 (KJV).
The false prophets of verse 11 are not those referred to in verse 5 who say, “I (Jesus) am Christ” and lead many astray.” Read carefully! Verse 5 begins all the things prophesied in verses 6 through 8 – wars, rumors, uprisings of nations – ie people groups – and kingdoms, famines, pestilences, earthquakes.
“Then” in verse 9 is another term for next, after, later, following. If there is an after, there must be a before, and so it is. All these things in verses 6 through 8 precede verse 9, the affliction and martyrdom. It is the events of verse 9 which cause “many to be offended” and turn on each other. Today, the time we are now living in, is the “then” of verses 9 and 10. These days began slowly over the decades and accelerated as a proliferation of “false prophets” and “deceitful teachers” began rising in our midst.
Jesus warned, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” He continued, “16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?” Matthew 7:15-16 (KJV). The false prophets of our day, walking and teaching and preaching among us, proclaim anything and everything but the truths Jesus taught. They mix just enough “Bible” into their teaching to give themselves a false legitimacy. Fortunately, we should and can “know them by their fruits.” This is the exact reason we are told by Paul, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2Timothy 2:15 (KJV).
Studying God’s Word protects us from deceit and deception. Faith is not by consensus or peer review, as many seminarians teach. It does not come by studying commentaries and so-called Bible scholars—although comparing commentaries can help in understanding language and customs, they are no substitute for personal Bible study—READ THE BOOK. Faith comes from hearing (reading) the Word of God; “So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” Romans 10:17 (KJV).
Do not think for a moment that all the “false prophets” are in the pulpits. They are deeply embedded in education, social media, entertainment, and unfortunately, in the churches. They come in a vast verity of flavors teaching all sorts of “ear-tickling” doctrines – prosperity, gender fluidity, humanism, sexual perversion, evolution, astrology, new age psychology, climate change, global warming – anything and everything but truth (“Thy word is truth” John 17:17).
- Concerning climate change, God assures humanity, “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease” Genesis 8:22 (KJV).
It is easy to see in ourselves and in our children, how we want what they want when we want it! Our fallen nature lives to lusts. Accordingly, people desire to believe the convenient lies perpetrated by evil. These lies furnish an easily acceptable excuse to turn from God to lawlessness. This is the strong delusion God allows to come upon fallen mankind:
“And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie” 2 Thessalonians 2:10-11 (KJV).
“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.” 2 Peter 2:1-2 (KJV)
“Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.” 1 John 2:18 (KJV)
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” 1 John 4:1 (KJV)
“For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.” Jude 4 (KJV)
The fuel feeding all this idolatry is found in the next verse:
“And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.” Matthew 24:12 (KJV)
Today iniquity abounds. Its constatn bombardment is intended to desensitize us to its effects. The love of neighbor is all but lost. As lawlessness increases the “falling away” intensifies. Men’s hearts grow colder by the moment. Never before in the history of the world could we das as Paul Prophesied:
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 (KJV).
Paul’s Holy Spirit inspired words are a timely description of the political, religious, and secular systems in full bloom throughout the whole earth. Corporations and media are corrupt. The governments are unrighteous, unjust, self-serving. Even the churches…which were once the pillars of the community…are falling.
“Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love”Revelation 2:4 (KJV).
If you haven’t yet, it’s time to turn to Christ. Eternity is a long time. Call upon Him.
God has promised, “For he says, “In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” 2 Corinthians 6:2, (ESV).
